Katha, our name, means story, so it’s only right we start with exactly that. We would like to share a story that begins 7000 years ago with our ancestors, in fourteenth century Nepal.

Despite the varying and treacherous landscapes of the Himalayas, Kathmandu valley became a rich artisanal centre, trading with its neighbours in all directions. Our brothers and sisters instilled journeying into our soul, from east to west, north to south, it was a time of prosperity, discovery and travel. Nepali culture was enriched by trading merchants carrying home stories, goods and recipes to their families. It was community and food that truly fuelled these expeditions and strengthened our people to build the beautiful culture that we celebrate today.

Our menu continues this celebration of our ancient dishes, ingredients and cooking methods, adapted for the modern era of Nepali cuisine.

In our kitchen you will discover the simplicity of traditional foods which have truly stood the test of time, most notably Momo’s and Dal Bhat, staples of any Nepali kitchen. We continue to lovingly create them with the same methods passed down to us through generations. Our dishes are created with deliberate respect for the vegetation of our homelands with many of our dishes based directly off our own nostalgia of growing up in Nepal, from market stalls and food vendors to neighbours kitchens, we hope you find the same warmth and comfort in our food.
